After meeting and falling in love seven years ago in Indonesia Bali (okay.. it was a club in Bali) we spent years of traveling and moving (and a tonne of money) between Switzerland and Australia. Did we mention that Leo’s Swiss and Kait is Aussie? Well, just last year we decided to move one last time to grow our roots in the Byron Bay Hinterland of Australia.
It’s all been costly and now that we’ve finally settled in a place we wish to stay, we decided it’s time to start refining the lifestyle we intend to lead. Which, low and behold, doesn’t involve all our energy being spent on making ends meet in the rat-race.
With a very open mind we decided to put a stop to this lifestyle and take radical responsibility for what we really want. Honestly, just feeling into that life and really feeling worthy of it took a long time to get our head around.
We were just some everyday people who didn’t know where to start. But we took the step and don’t regret one second of it.

What do I need to start my affiliate marketing journey?
First of all, there are tonnes of different products out there that you can promote as an affiliate, including physical or digital products or services. The beauty is, you can choose to promote whatever is in alignment for you. Maybe you already have a bustling social media presence and know of a product your followers are keen to support. Or, perhaps you’ve lived life as a hermit for the past several years (like us) and have zero presence online and aren’t sure what to promote. Either way, you’re in control and with the right support you can shape your journey of stepping into abundance while working in integrity. Below you can find the first steps you will need to take to get started with affiliate marketing.
STep 1
Set up a website or online presence. As an affiliate marketer, you’ll need to have a platform where you can share links and content. What do you like best? Instagram, FaceBook, TikTok, YouTube, or blog writing? Choose a platform that you naturally gravitate towards so when you spend your time there you feel inspired, not depleted.
Step 2
Discover the product(s) or service(s) to promote. If you already have an audience, its time to start surveying them about what common problems they face in order for you to align with a product that delivers a solution to their problem. Or if you are indeed the hermit type as mentioned above, it’s time to consider what products you can get your energy behind that are relevant to your values and interests. Rule of thumb: Do not throw yourself behind something that you don’t resonate with – it’ll never work out long term. You can simply use Google, or DuckDuckGo like us, to find various affiliate programs. Once you see something of interest, don’t hesitate, make contact with them to see what the process looks like.
Step 3
Promote your affiliate link. After signing up to an affiliate program the business will provide you with a unique link that includes a sophisticated tracking code. This is how you, and the business, will know it was your work that generated a sale. From here, you will be paid your set fee or commission. Promoting your unique link is the crux of affiliate marketing.

- If you can't find one, reach out to them with your interest and see where that takes you. Ask the company directly: If you are interested in promoting a specific product or service, you can contact the company directly to ask if they have an affiliate program. Many companies are happy to work with affiliates to promote their products or services.
- Use a variety of search engines to maximise your results. Everyone uses Google, so try DuckDuckGo, Yandex, Ask, Naver or Ecosia (they plant trees while you search). Type in the product name and affiliate program.
- Use affiliate networks. These are websites that connect affiliates with businesses looking to upscale their products sales. Some popular affiliate networks include Commission Factory, Clickbank, Amazon Associates, Commission Junction, and ShareASale.
- If you have a particular business in mind that resonates with you, look for their affiliate program on their website, likely found under an 'affiliates' or 'partners' page.

- Listing your chosen affiliate products on your website is a way your audience can access the various products you promote in a time efficient manner. Another way of creating easy access to the products you promote is by creating lists using LinkTree if, for example, you're using Instagram.
- Paid advertising, such as Facebook Ads and GoogleAdWords can help accelerate your sales by targeting your ideal audience. Yes, there will be an investment on your end and we suggest never budgeting more than about a coffee per day until you are up and running and generating steady sales.
- Developing and using an email list continues to be one of the most effective methods of turning leads (potential customers) into sales. It also enables greater autonomy, since you never know when they may update the algorythm on a social media platform that could cause your exposure to plummet.
- List IteWriting product reviews is an effective way to promote your affiliate product. This can be done on your platform of choice of even on your website. Always include your affiliate link.m
